My name is Fatemeh Khalatbari, and I am a PhD student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at McMaster University, under the supervision of Dr. Joe McDermid. As a member of the Center for Automotive Materials and Corrosion (CAMC) research group, my research focuses on Zn-coated press hardenable steel for automotive body components. The objective is to improve the mechanical properties of these materials, which will reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, and increase the range of electric vehicle batteries through lightweighting, while maintaining safety standards.
