Biography

Her curiosity for science began at a young age and even more so during her college studies where she completed a laboratory technician program in biotechnology. She fell in love with microbiology and decided to merge two passions, the science of microbes and the environment, by completing a bachelor's degree in microbiology specializing in the environment. To deepen her knowledge, she obtained a master's degree in water sciences in 2010. She has had a varied career, transitioning from a research professional in laboratories to a teacher in water management and treatment, working as a project manager in an engineering firm, and finally arriving at the Arvida Research and Development Center at Rio Tinto in 2017 as a research scientist. Since joining Rio Tinto, she has been working on developing water treatment technologies that address the company's issues in the most environmentally friendly way possible. She also supports her colleagues with issues related to water management and quality on-site and participates in major internal and external projects, such as those with the International Aluminium Institute. Since 2024, she has been recognized within Rio Tinto as a Rio Expert in wastewater management and treatment.
