Biography

Afshin serves as the Technical Director at Asset Performance Management (APM) Group at Hatch, where he has been a key contributor since 2004. Before joining Hatch, he worked at ANDEC/CANDET from 1997 to 2004. Afshin earned his undergraduate degree in Geophysics in 1990 and pursued post-graduate studies in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at McGill University, completing his Ph.D. in 1997. His career in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) began in 1990, with a focus on coarse-grained materials and structures. Over the years, Afshin has managed and sponsored hundreds of small- to intermediate-scale projects. He has developed numerous NDT and monitoring techniques and systems, holding 11 U.S. patents. His expertise is reflected in over 120 technical articles he has authored and presented. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Afshin has served as an Adjunct Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) since 2002, contributing to the academic development of future engineers and researchers.
