Biography

I am Tejaswini Das, a joint Ph.D. student at AcSIR, India (from CSIR-IMMT) and RMIT University, Australia. My research focuses on sustainable extraction processes of critical metals from low-grade resources. My primary focus is to implement integrated technology to improve the kinetics of the process, which includes electro-bioleaching, hybrid bio-acid reduction techniques and incorporation of electron shuttles in bioleaching. I work extensively on anaerobic systems, exploring microbe–mineral interactions to enhance metal dissolution kinetics, improve selectivity, and enable process intensification. The materials central to my research include laterite ores, polymetallic nodules, and ferromanganese ores, which are increasingly important for energy transition technologies yet remain difficult to process using conventional approaches.
