Biography

Maarten Haest is a geologist and material sensing scientist with a keen interest in sensors and sensor fusion across the mining value chain. He is focused on the combination of outputs from multiple sensors to improve material characterization at the mine face and on the processed product, to increase extraction efficiency and enhance product quality. With a PhD in ore geology and experience spanning from research to implementation of novel sensors in the mining and exploration industries with the CSIRO and BHP in Australia, Maarten brings a wealth of ore characterization knowledge to MineSense to refine and expand its ShovelSense and BeltSense product lines. As VP Geoscience at MineSense, Maarten is responsible for both Lab Services and Operational GeoScience. In this role, he is supporting the creation of data models that generate knowledge and value from the deployed MineSense sensors, as well as progressing research into new sensors to enhance the benefits that can be generated from these products.
