Biography

Jean-François graduated from Université Laval in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in materials and metallurgical engineering, and gained industrial experience at the Kapuskasing phosphate mine in Ontario and the Murrin Murrin nickel-cobalt hydrometallurgical refinery in Western Australia. His graduate studies revolved around rare earth beneficiation, extraction and separation. Hired in 2019 at UQAT's Mining and Environmental Research Institute, he conducts research on the metallurgy of rare earths, graphite, lithium and other critical and strategic elements. His research interests include flotation, metallurgical co-products, as well as process economic analysis.
