1 articleBiography
After 12+ years in the security industry, Avi came to the realization that his work in security has been important, however not meaningful enough. This is when Avi decided to connect his passion for business and strategy with the desire to have a positive impact on communities and environments. Avi is an avid researcher, and his areas of focus include sustainability/ESG and ESG reporting in different Canadian sectors, particularly in the mining sector where his interest and experience has flourished over the past five years. Most recently Avi was lead researcher for SOOP’s Agnico Eagle projects for Investor Engagement and Sustainability Report Benchmarking Study. He has focused his master’s level research into Diversity and Gender Equity in Canadian mining companies, and public policies being used to further facilitate the integration of ESG. More areas of Avi’s research include corporate social responsibility and the mining law in Canada; ESG and COVID-19; developments in ESG and Mining; environmental initiatives in small to medium size businesses; Diversity and Gender Equity in the time of COVID-19; Trade Policies and the Environment; Cyber Security and Privacy in Canada; Social innovation enterprises; Fundraising in non-profits; and more. After meeting Sabrina through GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) training three years ago, Avi has since worked with SOOP on internal business development and became a SOOP Associate this year. Avi is driven by his desire to provide his children with a better future.
