9 articlesBiography
Joyce McBeth (PhD 2007, Geological Sciences, University of Manchester) is a geomicrobiologist and faculty member in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Regina. From 2015-2020, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Saskatchewan and she is still affiliated with USask as an Adjunct Professor. Her research explores the intersection between microbiological processes and the geochemistry of elements of interest such as arsenic and iron in natural and engineered environments. Her current work includes studies of permeable reactive barriers and biogeochemical cycling in tailings-impacted wetlands. She uses both microbiological approaches such as high-throughput sequencing and synchrotron approaches such as powder x-ray diffraction and x-ray absorption spectroscopy in her research.
