Biography

Alex’s knowledge and experience spans a broad range of environmental geochemistry and water quality topics. He has reported on the water quality aspects of environmental baseline studies and developed water quality models for impact assessment of mining projects at all stages (exploration through to closure), different commodities (precious metals, base metals, coal) and mining methods. Other experience includes data collection and interpretation from field sampling to laboratory analysis for the prediction of metal leaching and acid rock drainage (ML/ARD) and neutral mine drainage. Current project experience addresses the geochemical aspects of operational and closure water and waste management plans for precious metal and base metal mines and predictive water quality modeling. Alex’s doctoral level research focused on the measurement of selenium concentrations in sulphides. He also has field experience in mineral exploration geology and geochemistry.
