Biography

Eric Demers, a dedicated and accomplished professional, is the proud father of two wonderful boys. His journey in the mining industry began as a summer student while pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa, culminating in his graduation in the spring of 2010. Throughout his illustrious career at Technica Mining, Eric has seamlessly transitioned through various roles, showcasing his versatility and expertise. His early years saw him as a construction miner, gradually progressing to project coordinator and superintendent for construction and shaft repair projects. In 2018, recognizing the critical importance of health and safety, Eric made a pivotal career shift, marking the beginning of a new chapter. As the Safety and Training Supervisor at the Copper Cliff Mine South Project, Eric quickly ascended to the role of Superintendent of Safety and Training for the same project. In this capacity, he played a key role in the implementation of digital tools such as Sofvie and the distribution of tablets to all employees, enhancing safety practices and streamlining processes. In 2020, Eric's commitment and leadership were further acknowledged when he was appointed Manager of Health, Safety, and Training at Technica Mining. In this role, he spearheaded the development of Technica Mining's Health and Safety Management System, contributing significantly to the organization's commitment to excellence. Beyond his day-to-day responsibilities, Eric embarked on a passion project in 2020 – co-hosting the ChangeItself podcast. Focused on exploring organizational and cultural change, the podcast reflects Eric's deep insights into influencing culture and navigating change, drawing from his experiences implementing Sofvie and other initiatives at Technica Mining. In late 2023, Eric's journey reached another milestone as he assumed the position of Area Manager for the Raisebore, Open Pit, and Surface Mining Division of Technica.
