Biography
Fanmao Wang is a current postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto with a specialty in extractive metallurgy. He received his doctoral degree at U of T in 2021, developing a novel method to extract nickel from sulfide nickel ores, which significantly mitigates SO2 emissions. Since then, he has been devoted to scaling up this method to produce green ferronickel from sulfide nickel ores including low-grade ultramafic ores. The final products have several potential uses such as stainless steel and lithium-ion battery.
