Biography

After graduating in Chemistry from Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (UAM) and in materials engineering from Universidad Complutense of Madrid (UCM), Iván crossed the pond in 2014 to settle in Québec, where he received a doctorate degree in materials engineering and metallurgy from Université Laval. During his doctoral research, he developed anti-fog surfaces by atmospheric pressure plasma technology and applied several analysis techniques for their characterization, including XRF, NIR, AFM, and SEM. After a brief foray into the world of intellectual property as a technical patent agent, he joined Malvern Panalytical (Québec, Canada) in January 2021 as an application specialist. At the Malvern Panalytical Quebec Team, Iván’s area of expertise focuses mainly on sample analysis by XRD as well as on the development of sample preparation by fusion for ICP and XRF analysis.
