Biography

Ali Asgarian is a Research Officer specializing in the area of powder production and synthesis. His research interests also include metal additive manufacturing, thermo-fluids, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Dr. Asgarian holds a multidisciplinary PhD in Materials Science & Engineering and Mechanical & Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, where he improved a water atomization technology for producing high-grade metal powders for additive manufacturing. His PhD and then post-doctoral research was in collaboration with one of the world’s largest metal powder producers, Rio Tinto Metal Powders. He earned his Masters’ degree in Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Western Ontario. He is an active professional engineer of Ontario (P.Eng.) and has an extensive industrial experience encompassing 10+ years of engineering and technology development for energy, mining, and mineral processing sectors around the world.
