Biography

Dr. Angelo Stamatiou is a professional engineer with over 20 years' experience in engineering design, technology development for metals and mining projects. Angelo earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto specializing in chemical engineering. He has a broad exposure to the overall project life-cycle from concept to detailed design and has worked extensively on process engineering, simulation (SysCAD, METSIM, IDEAS, OLI) and optimization of hydrometallurgical systems, with a core focus on lithium, nickel, cobalt and potash. Angelo has a strong working knowledge of processing diverse lithium and potash brines from around the world. His experience in lithium refining processes spans several unit operations including leaching, solvent extraction, evaporation and crystallization, chemical precipitation, ion exchange and the production of battery grade end products lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide monohydrate, as well as the recovery of lithium from in solar ponds.
