Biography

Michelia finished her study and was working on her research project related to the steel refining process as part of her Ph.D. research, especially related to the inclusion formation when she joined McMaster University in 2015-2021. As a Ph.D. candidate in Material Science & Engineering Department, she got hands-on experience in designing her experiment in the laboratory and also become a lab demonstrator for a couple of undergraduate courses. She also acts as a teaching assistant, which broadens her skill to articulate and explain a complex concept in a simple manner. As traveling is one of her favorite activities, before her Ph.D. study at Mcmaster University, she studied in Clean Steel Laboratory at the Graduate Institute of Ferrous Technology (POSTECH, South Korea) for her master's degree. Her focus was on the desulfurization technique in the steel refining process. She also spends a couple of months in the same graduate institute doing preliminary research on the corrosion field as part of her undergraduate internship project. Michelia got her B.Sc. degree from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB, Indonesia) in the Metallurgical Engineering Department. Also, she studied the corrosion mechanism in stainless steel as part of her undergraduate research project.
