Biography

After graduating from McMaster University with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Nicholas (Nick) Aubry joined Hatch in 2019 as a Process EIT in the Pyrometallurgy Sector Practice. Nick has focussed on detailed process analysis of the traditional blast furnace process as Hatch clients look for approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing facilities. Nick developed an innovative approach to reduce a pellet plant GHG emissions using waste heat recovery and electric heating technologies. His practical experience includes quality assurance for the Stelco Blast Furnace No.1 reline in 2021. Nick was co-author of the 2021 Hatch Global Award Paper Winner entitled 'Top Gas Recycling Revisted to Reduce Blast Furnace CO2 Emissions'.
