I have been engaged in Materials Science and Engineering R&D within McMaster University; wherein, I have also been a faculty member in Mechanical Engineering since 2004. Specifically, our research group, Light Metal Casting Research Centre (LMCRC) have been working exclusively on developing and implementing new families of Al alloys for structural automotive applications. Our research on aluminium and its alloys pans across solidification sciences, physical metallurgy and heat treatment mechanisms, structure-property-performance synergies, casting processes, high vacuum high pressure die casting, Die Tool Science and Engineering, joining of multi-materials with cast Al alloys, and sustainable practices in metal casting. Our research quest has enabled us to gain certain unique expertise such as liquid metal characterization (atomic and physical) using neutron, synchrotron and X-Ray radiations, rheological characterization of liquid metallic alloys, advanced thermal analyses using fibre optic thermal sensors and other thermocouples, thermodynamic and casting simulations, and complex solidification and heat treatment experiments. I am presently engaged in MetSoc as the lead for the Light Metals Committee and have been privileged to help out in review of several notable journal articles for publications. Recently, I have also been engaged learning and implementing strategies for an equitable, inclusive and anti-oppressive work environments in the fields of employments I am affiliated.
