Biography

Sean Kautzman, PEng, is a Principal Consultant (Mining Engineer) with SRK’s Sudbury office. Over the course of his 24 years within the mining industry he has amassed experience in engineering, operations, and project management. Prior to joining SRK in 2018, he worked for multiple mining companies in the US and Canada. His specialties include underground mine design, decarbonization, technology implementation, operational improvement, and due diligence. The commodities Mr. Kautzman has worked with include base metals, precious metals, iron, and industrial minerals, with settings ranging from surface pits down to ultra-deep underground mines. Mr. Kautzman has served as the Chief Mine Engineer at Vale’s Creighton Mine and has also provided subject matter expertise on the backfill, drilling & blasting processes for Vale mines and projects in their North Atlantic operations. Sean is a registered professional engineer in Ontario and is active within CIM and SME. He graduated with a degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 2000.
