Dr. Jalbout is a rock mechanics engineer, with over 24 years' experience in geotechnical engineering and mining at operating mine sites both on surface and underground, as well as in research and development, technical services and consulting. Dr. Jalbout has held various operational geotechnical responsibilities in challenging mining projects such as Grasberg Complex in Indonesia, Nickel Rim South in Sudbury, and Westwood Mines in Quebec. Currently, he is the manager of the geotechnical department at Westwood mine. In addition, Ali consults on rock mechanics and provides geotechnical expertise to several mines in Canada and elsewhere through the company ASA Geotech, a Montreal-based consulting firm established in 2021, which offers technical services in the fields of rock mechnics, ground control, numerical modelling, mine design to local and international mining, and tunnelling clients.
