Biography

Dr Jones has Honours and PhD degrees in Inorganic Chemistry. He has 40 years’ experience in the environmental assessment and management of water quality issues across the gold and base metal mining and energy (coal, coal seam and shale gas, uranium) sectors in Australia and internationally. During this period he has held senior positions in research (CSIRO), industry (Rio Tinto), and government (Australian Department of the Environment), and is now the Principal of his own consulting business (DR Jones Environmental Excellence). This range of experience enables him to bring a broad perspective to often controversial environmental issues.
