Abstract:

Metallurgical processing of many ore deposits, particularly those of critical minerals, is significantly influenced by the variability of their mineralogical characteristics. This generally leads to high variability in metallurgical performances and various challenges in terms of concentrate or end-product quality management. With the growing importance of critical minerals, geometallurgy is increasingly essential for mine planning and optimal mining operations. Domain identification and their characterization remains the key behind a successful geometallurgical model.

This presentation aims to help understand how geological modeling and block models contribute to geometallurgy. We will explore various aspects that are essential to the development of 3D geometallurgical model, through the following topics:

Geometallurgy modelling workflow,
3D domain modelling,
Geometallurgical block models,
Integration with mine planning,
Common pitfalls.
