Biography

Associate, Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Mine Waste Geotechnical Engineer at Golder Associates with more than 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering. María obtained her Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of British Columbia working on the mechanical characterization of natural low-plastic silts and tailings. She has extensive experience in advanced in situ and laboratory exploration programs for tailings dams and foundation characterization. She has been involved in site characterization, stability analysis, numerical modelling and liquefaction susceptibility assessment of mine waste facilities, dams, and foundations in different parts of the world. She is part of the technical team of Golder’s advanced geotechnical laboratories, and subject matter expert reviewer for advanced laboratory testing for academic and industry geotechnical laboratories. María is a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, and with the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists.
