Abstract
Rare earth elements (REEs) include the lanthanide group. They are the subject of many debates, owing to their possible role in the green transition and the development of new technologies. They are carried by oxidized minerals such as monazite and bastnaesite, which also carry radionuclides as substitution elements (U, Th, etc.). This study analyzed the distribution of REEs and certain radionuclides in the production chain of an REE concentrate by flotation. The ore fed to the flotation circuit came from the Ashram deposit, an REE deposit located in northern Quebec. The circuit consisted of two conditioning stages followed by three roughing stages and a cleaning stage. The pH of the pulp (45% solids by weight) was 9.17 at the start of roughing, and the temperature was 62.5°C. Samples were analyzed by X-ray fluorescence on borate fusion beads. The poster presents the REE and Th contents, as well as their recoveries after data reconciliation.
