Abstract
The high-entropy alloys (HEAs) are considered as candidates of structural materials or coating materials due to their promising good mechanical strength, and corrosion or wear resistance, etc. A micro-welding technique, electro-spark deposition (ESD), is used to fabricate AlCoCrFeNi HEA coatings on steel. ESD parameters will be investigated, including the main electrical parameters of voltage, current, capacitance, spark frequency, and the shielding gas flow rate. The surface roughness, microstructure, and hardness of the coatings will be characterized; while their mechanical properties and wear resistance will also be evaluated. It aims to understand the weldability of high-entropy alloy with conventional engineering alloy, and use low heat input ESD process for new coatings.
