Abstract
Summary:
In a context of energy transition and responsible resource management, copper plays a fundamental role, both for its properties essential to electrification and for its recyclability. By applying the circular economy model, we can achieve two objectives: to increase the sustainability of electrification and to offer local and secure supplies to companies in Quebec and elsewhere in North America.
Our presentation aims to detail our contribution as one of North America's leading electronics recyclers, highlighting the challenges and opportunities of the copper sector in an economy in transition. We will outline the critical stages of the recycling cycle, from recovery through to the reintegration of materials into the supply chain, thereby contributing to sustainable resource management.
Objectives of the presentation:
- Demonstrate the central role of copper in the energy transition.
- Illustrate how Glencore maximises the value of waste through innovative recycling practices.
- Explore the impact of our approach on reducing the environmental footprint and sourcing critical materials.
This conference will provide an overview of the circular model applied to copper, aiming to inspire other industry sectors and contribute to discussions on best practice in the circular economy.
