Abstract

dss⁺ and 7 mining companies formed a Mining SIF Study Group to gain a better understanding of the causes and contributing factors behind a troubling industry fatality trend. The Study Group has wrapped up its work and is prepared to share its perspectives and learnings with the broader mining community.

Frankie Fuchs - General Manager – Global EHS Strategy for Finning International, and Don Martin – Lead Principal for dss⁺ will present headline findings and guidance on the operationalization of SIF prevention practices.

This session will review the Study Group’s analysis of SIF performance trends, SIF risk situations, and SIF precursors. Recommendations for determining SIF Potential, verifying the performance of SIF critical controls, and the use of SIF leading metrics will be presented.
