Abstract
Across the globe, public mineral reporting codes such as S-K 1300, JORC, SAMREC, CIM, PERC, and CRIRSCO continue to drive the governance and reporting standards for the disclosure of Exploration Results, Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve estimates. These frameworks also require companies to divulge a plethora of supporting information including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) information pertinent to their projects’ value proposition at all stages of project development. Mining companies must establish a golden thread that binds the minerals and ESG position developed in the company strategy through to the business planning, to operations and in public disclosures. Without this binding golden thread companies’ risk at best a fragmented and confusing storyline for investors and at worst fallacious and misleading public disclosures liable to incur the ire of stock exchanges and regulators. Given the large scope and complexity of the reporting requirements it is imperative that companies strengthen the golden thread by deploying modern, refined, and sophisticated data capture, governance, validation, approvals and reporting processes and systems. Discussed in this presentation is a holistic systems approach to Resource Governance that enables companies to inform today’s global markets accurately, confidently, and transparently.
