Abstract
This presentation will outline the execution methodology used for the development of the Meliadine project in Nunavut owned by Agnico Eagle Mines. The main topics presented will be the organizational structure consisting of an Owner Project Team leading the project instead of an external EPCM firm; the close collaboration and transparency developed during the project execution between the Project Team, the Operation Team and Agnico’s Top management. It will also present the contractual approach used to enforce the collaboration between the Owner and the Contractors during the execution, based on the fact that Agnico has put the different contractors in a position where they can perform and remove all the elements in their mandate considered as distractions. The presenter will also describe the recipe developed to deal with short time delivery of material during barge season in the summer and the aggressive winter climate in Nunavut. These aspects enforce the need of having an experienced Logistics and Expediting Team. As no project goes 100% has planned, the presentation will also develop on the scope change management process used along the different phases of the execution.
