The Implementation of SFR Equipment at Dundee Precious Metals Ada Tepe Mine

Abstract

Dundee Precious Metals Ada Tepe gold mining operation in south-eastern Bulgaria was commissioned in 2019. The concentrator includes a complete flotation circuit of Woodgrove Technologies’ Staged Flotation Reactors (SFRs), with 8 units for roughing and 11 for cleaning. Pilot plant testing of the SFR had shown that a high-grade gold concentrate could be produced with excellent recovery. The SFR was selected over conventional technology (of tank cells plus flotation columns) based on the much smaller footprint and high concentrate grades demonstrated in testing. The flotation circuit treats ore with a primary grind P80 of about 30 um and a regrind on rougher concentrate of 15 um. Final concentrate typically grades 900-1,000 g/t Au. Design flotation production was achieved quickly after start-up of the concentrator. The paper describes the commercial flotation circuit as well as the SFR pilot testing.
