Lomiko Metals new management has taken a personal and purpose drive approach to community engagement. In 12 months as a new team, we completed more than three rounds of meetings with all surrounding communities created a toll-free community number and transparent process to receive and respond to questions and concerns in our inaugural exploration campaign as a new team. Prior to our appointment, a virtual open house was held with many community members attending.
We completed the ECOLOGO certification process and we hosted a networking reception October 3 Voices at the Table: Climate change, Critical minerals & First Nations & Indigenous Women in 2022. Our friends in Montreal could meet our team and hear our vision. Lee Arden Lewis and Anne Chabot First Nations, Indigenous advisors, presented as well as artist Kirk Brant who created a unique original artwork to express a collective vision on working with First Nations.
We will discuss our personal experiences in encountering resistance to mining and fears related to our environmental impact. This session is more than ESG, this session is about personal leadership and purpose and how that has helped us manage engagement in an area that is not familiar with mining and prefers that it takes place elsewhere. We will candidly address building trust. In our session we want to talk about what really happens when you meet with impacted community members individually and how to manage as a professional long held negative views. This talk will be respectful and it will be candid. What did the management team encounter in terms of challenges and upsets? How did we learn on our feet, respond and react and do better for the next community meeting? What did we have to overcome personally and focus on so that we can in the future build trust? How did we address concerns and how are we going to approach the future so where social acceptability is challenged by different points of view?
With vision, purpose and values we will talk about personal leadership and our journeys in building trust in community engagement and how we envision the future.
