Abstract
The presentation will provide a review through a ten-year lens of decarbonization and energy diversification initiatives at Canadian mining sites. Tugliq will draw from its own project experiences, such as wind, solar and battery energy projects at remote mining sites in Arctic Canada, as well as from other case examples and industry trends. The goal of the presentation will be to take a realistic view of how renewable energy technologies have been approached and implemented in mining over the last decade to better understand the current gaps that still exist today and what is needed going forward. This is especially relevant given that mines, at whatever stage of development and operations, are under increasing socio-environmental and economic driven pressure to decarbonize be they remote and fossil-fuel dependent or grid connected.
As a mining-sector specialized IPP and energy project developer, Tugliq will help build a portrait view of renewables for the short-, medium- and long-term energy diversification strategies of mines. The presentation will address technologies including, but not limited to, wind, solar, hydrogen and energy storage as well as diversification drivers like electrification of vehicle fleets and equipment.
