Mining industry accounts for up to 7% of all GHG emissions. Furthermore, the energy needs of the modern mine simply cannot be sustainably met with diesel machinery alone. There must be a transformation and ABB is committed to work hand-in-hand with our customers and partners to support and design the new All-Electric mine, while still keeping them competitive and ensuring high productivity at the highest safety standards.
Transitioning to an all-electric mine is going to take new thinking as well new plans and tools, which will support and find most suitable mining method, focusing on energy optimization and electrical power system infrastructure. ABB is committed to recommend interoperable solutions and technologies that make mine safer, smarter and reduce carbon emission. In central point of transformation is electric hauling and power network analysis to cover the key aspects.
Building on decades of mining project electrification experience and expertise, ABB will present its solutions and technologies for integration of BEV with trolley-Assist system in open pit as well as in underground mines based on ABB Ability™ eMine portfolio of fit-for-purpose electrical technology integrated with automation and digital system, to plan, monitor and control processes, optimizing operations and energy usage from grid to wheel.
