Abstract
Scope 3: Supply chain decarbonization is quickly emerging as the next frontier in emissions reduction strategy.
Mining and Metal producers are increasingly asking their suppliers (many of whom are small- and medium-sized businesses) to reduce their emissions and purchase renewable electricity.
However, their suppliers face a multitude of obstacles in meeting these asks, including cost, resource and size constraints, operational risk, and unfamiliarity with renewable electricity purchasing and decarbonization options.
Fortunately, there are many ways producers can support their suppliers, from providing education on renewable energy and decarbonization strategy to guiding suppliers towards best-fit procurement options.
