Abstract
The dss+ Mining SIF Study Group agreed that executive sponsorship is an essential key to organizational understanding and control of SIF risk vulnerabilities. Study Group members further agreed that companies embarking on a SIF Prevention initiative should expect to go through a maturity journey while their SIF prevention system is evolving. As an organization moves from the reactive to the interdependent quadrant of the dss+ Bradley CurveTM, their SIF journey and organizational culture moves and matures symbiotically.
However, upon examination of 20 years of culture strength data from the mining industry (1 million datapoints from 95 countries), a plateau was clearly identified covering the most recent decade – there has been no industry movement beyond the independent quadrant. Why are we seeing no improvement? What will it take to drive our culture strengths forward and deliver higher levels of SIF prevention?
In this session we will answer these questions by taking a deeper dive into this data and its significance. We will identify the leadership practices and styles associated with best-in-class SIF process impact, and known to drive cultural transformation into the interdependent quadrant.
