Abstract
Fostering strong, respectful partnerships with Indigenous communities is essential for the success and sustainability of mining projects. This interactive round table will bring together diverse stakeholders—including Indigenous leaders, mining companies, policymakers, and industry experts—to engage in open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.
Participants will:
- Discuss strategies for building trust and long-term partnerships with Indigenous communities across key mining regions including Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Eeyou Istchee, Sudbury and Nunavut.
- Explore the integration of Indigenous knowledge in project planning, environmental management, and sustainability practices and cumulative impacts.
- Address regulatory challenges and opportunities for alignment with Indigenous and urban community priorities.
- Share case studies of successful collaboration from panelists representing companies active in Québec, Ontario and Nunavut, including Agnico Eagle Mines, GoldFields, Eldorado Gold Québec, Winsome Resources, Nemaska Lithium, Quebec Iron Ore, First Phosphate and Technica.
This session emphasizes active participation, with guided discussions at each table to encourage deeper engagement and the exchange of ideas. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute insights across the full scope of ESG and sustainability—from cultural and community engagement to environmental resilience—and collectively identify actionable solutions that promote reconciliation, inclusive development, and responsible resource management.
Join us for this important conversation on advancing collaborative, multi-stakeholder engagement in the mining sector.
