Abstract
As the mining industry faces unprecedented pressure to increase the mineral supply, decarbonize, and transform its environmental and social performance, the need for resilient, and innovative ecosystems has never been greater. No single company or institution can meet these challenges alone. Effective partnerships-across the TRLs, from fundamental research to operational implementation and venture-backed innovation-are essential to deliver the breakthroughs, talent, and scalable solutions our industry needs.
This convergence of expertise is not accidental. The mining industry’s innovation ecosystem is only as strong as its weakest link. Without investment in early-stage research, the pipeline of transformative ideas dries up. Without industry engagement and operational partnerships, promising technologies languish in the lab. Without capital and entrepreneurial support, even the most promising startups struggle to scale and commercialize their solutions. By fostering partnerships across TRLs, mining companies can diversify their innovation portfolios, de-risk technology adoption, and position themselves as leaders in sustainability and operational excellence.
