Abstract
Modern mines seek to uncover the riches of the earth: safely, cleanly and profitably. However, the risks in mining are significant and changing known methods to a new technology is viewed with skepticism. Rail-Veyor® is a material haulage solution that combines the best of conveyors, rail and truck haulage and improves operations for both surface and underground applications. Rail-Veyor is made up of simple yet robust industrial machines which utilize a complex software program to optimize material hauling. With Rail-Veyor's TrulyAutonomous™ system, employees can be removed from hazardous areas to monitor remotely. The Rail-Veyor system is electric and comprised of steel wheels on steel rails which is highly energy efficient and adaptable with any terrain. Depending on the source of the electricity (solar, wind or hydro), the carbon footprint is measurably lower than other haulage solutions resulting in a lighter environmental impact. Quickly deployed, the light rail system is able to be relocated or extended easily as there are no permanent footings which also allows the system to be re-used elsewhere as needed. Underground ventilation needs can be reduced, and water is not needed to maintain Rail-Veyor haul routes as the system does not produce dust. In this presentation, we will explain the Rail-Veyor system and answer questions from the audience on this proven technology and the 2020 Mining Cleantech Challenge winner.
