Abstract
While autonomous drones in an underground mine might sound like science fiction, they're becoming more prevalent as a way to prevent accidents and increase efficiency in operations. In this presentation, Exyn Technologies -- a pioneer in autonomous aerial robot systems for complex, GPS-denied environments -- will introduce some current uses for autonomous drones underground, including case studies from cavity monitoring flights at Vale and Dundee Precious Metals. They will also be exploring future applications of autonomous aerial and ground based vehicles in mining including their implications for health & safety, relaying information throughout a mine and to the surface, ground and aerial drone cooperation, and the future potential of autonomous aerial drone swarms.
