Abstract
This session will be presented by Control Risks (Daniel Linsker), Lundin Foundation (Mark Sitter) and Ulula (presenter TBC).
will provide practical insights in the rapidly changing landscape of social risk management in the COVID age. The global mining and metals industry had already been increasingly adopting innovative technology in order to provide better results for all stakeholders. It will explore how technology tools can be leveraged in order to enhance sustainability performance, improve stakeholder management and better address and respond to grievances, social risks and activism – now fueled itself through technology.
With a view towards facilitating a more sustainable and accountable form or mining for all internal and external stakeholders, the session will explore how companies can use technology to address global shifts -and demands- in stakeholder engagement, responsible mining and human rights’ protection, ensuring a more active and fluid communication and the early identification of key indicators to allow all stakeholders to act and successfully manage the day to-day challenges of a mining project.
The session will provide attendees with insight on three key points:
- Technology, when deployed correctly, can enable projects to achieve better sustainability outcomes for all stakeholders, advancing goals such as traceability and transparency, as well as support to small businesses in the area of project influence
- In the midst of the pandemic, technology can help overcome some of the challenges presented by physical distancing, restrictions on travel and other regulations, while improving communication and reporting
- It will include real-world examples from companies and projects where technology has been deployed successfully
