Presentation Title:
Strategy and Real Case Challenges of Technology Integration in Mining Companies

Abstract:

There is no magic or unique recipe for integrating technologies in mining companies. Some companies have a history of tools and technological solutions that must be considered when integrating new solutions. The evolution must be done systematically so as not to interrupt the level of service provided. Companies also encourage innovation. In other companies, some new resources that enter the market are technologically comfortable and develop certain tools themselves that sometimes generate great value. The support for these tools must then be integrated into the existing application governance. Some other companies have detailed plans that cascade at all levels, while others opt for a more agile approach.

This panel will explore the challenges and strategies mining companies face when integrating new technologies, from AI to decarbonization tools, while maintaining operational efficiency and sustainability. Panelists will share real-world insights, successes, and lessons learned to inspire innovation and collaboration in the industry.

Panelists:

Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)
Mining operator representative

Here are some specific subjects that we will discuss with our panelists:

What strategies can mining companies implement to ensure that they are able to take advantage of the promises offered by technologies?
How do mining companies approach the integration of AI into their daily operations?
In your opinion, how can we encourage younger generations of workers to contribute to the safe deployment of emerging technologies in our industry?
Since the primary objective of mining companies is ore production, how can companies ensure the sustainability of the systems and technological solutions deployed?
Finally, how can we not address the decarbonization of our industry? How can information technologies contribute to helping mining companies achieve their ambitious decarbonization goals?
