2 articlesBiography
Caroline Olsen has nearly 30 years of experience in industrial research on mineral processing. She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's degree in physical chemistry, with a specialization in the behavior of gold obtained at the Université de Sherbrooke. Early in her career, she worked in mining environment to develop indicators of toxicity in natural environment. She then continued her professional activities as a mineral processing researcher, R&D program manager and group leader. She has developed diagnostic and control tools for different processes such as grinding, flotation, leaching, CIL/CIP, RIL and Merrill-Crowe. She has carried out several R&D projects related to hydrometallurgy including critical minerals processing, electrochemistry, surface chemistry, on-line analysis, speciation, metal phytoremediation, biomining and molecular modeling and cyanide recovery. Her training and experience in applied research allow her to participate in the continuous improvement of the performance of many plants while minimizing their impact on the environment. Subsequently, she became business development and strategic project advisor. She is currently Director of R&D at SGS Canada Inc. in Quebec City and she continues to support the mining industry in the development of partnerships and the financing of major projects related to critical minerals, recycling and CO2 capture in a sustainable development approach.
