Abstract
The current market for critical minerals is booming. To reach the climate goals of the Paris Agreement, the International Energy Agency estimates that the supply of critical minerals for clean technologies could increase by as much as six times by 2040. To help fill this gap, Canada and provinces have recently adopted a battery strategy to accelerate the production of clean technologies, which is intended to strengthen the economy, create thousands of jobs, and consolidate Canada's leading role in the global critical mineral industry.
From exploration to recycling, how can sustainable development projects benefit from government funding? What are the key criteria to be selected? How do we leverage available complementary funds? By using these funds in a coordinated manner and forming a multidisciplinary team, it is much more likely to accelerate the implementation of new sustainable technologies for the entire critical minerals value chain.
