Description
Fatigue is the silent assassin of productivity and safety. Assessing for fatigue and implementing appropriate controls is critical in mining operations but traditionally, companies have relied on worker monitoring systems placed in operating equipment. This limited approach does nothing to identify the sources of fatigue hidden in the design and management of our work systems or the broader workforce. It’s time to look at our work systems through the lens of fatigue. This requires a fundamental change in the way we currently plan work activities, design work schedules, evaluate errors, record incidents, perform investigations, monitor health metrics, and conduct audits. This session will highlight mining companies who have looked beyond worker monitoring to successfully integrate a Fatigue Risk Management System that reduces risk for all stakeholders and operations.
