Abstract
Hatch's Smelter Optimizing solution helps optimize material flow in smelters, from furnace operation to matte granulation, by taking into account metallurgical and logistical constrains. It maximizes smelter throughput by providing optimal furnace tapping schedules, batch sizes, and ladle repositioning, and enables effective crane movements to ship furnace matte to downstream converters. The tool considers all process, quality, logistic and environmental constraints and allows for detailed and accurate production scheduling. The model is based on state-of-the-art mathematical optimization technology and includes features to adjust production schedules based on maintenance events and ensure safety requirements are met. Additionally, it can be used for CAPEX project planning and scenario analysis.
