Abstract
In this project, comminution optimization at a large open pit mine is discussed and addressed by using rugged 3D machine vision systems at various stages (handheld, on mining shovels, above haul trucks, on primary crushers, and on conveyor belts). Process optimization is performed by applying mining expertise to the timely data which is continuously generated and uploaded to our secure servers on the cloud using the above Mine-to-Mill Ecosystem Solution. The ultimate objective is to use data from our imaging products as well as from third party supplier (e.g., Fleet Management Systems=FMS) to perform data-driven optimization of the processes e.g., by adjusting drill & blast parameters, and crusher and grinder settings, while ensuring no uncrushable objects (e.g., lost teeth, lost adapters, or boulders) find their way to the primary crusher or downstream processing plant.
Experimental results from two open pit mines (copper & gold) will be presented.
