Abstract
SafeGauge Live Testing Solutions
In pursuing safety excellence in mining, it is essential to address the persistent risks faced by technicians working near heavy machinery, operator blind spots, and potential tooling failures. These situations expose technicians to hazards like stored energy, pressurised systems, and potentially catastrophic consequences.
Over the past decade, mining fatalities have brought these dangers into sharper contrast. In a 2019 study by the Queensland Department of Resources, Mines and Energy, an alarming 25% of these fatalities were a direct result of contact with machinery, ranging from crushing and striking to entanglement. This unsettling data underscores the urgency of our mission: to Eliminate Live Work (ELW) in mining operations.
SafeGauge, led by Managing Director Luke Dawson, is a pioneering, forward-thinking safety technology company committed to realising this mission. Our portfolio boasts cutting-edge solutions meticulously designed to eliminate the need for technicians to engage in live tasks within high-risk zones, effectively removing them from danger.
Our SafeGauge innovative tools, which include wireless testing ability with a remarkable range of up to 50m (164ft), enable heavy vehicle maintenance testing with unprecedented safety and efficiency. The SafeGauge catalogue includes three product series: Pressure Transducers (SafeTest PT Series), Dial Indicators (SafeTest DI Series) and Tachometers (SafeTest TM Series). Each is available individually or as part of multi-channel kits. All kits come with the SafeTest MultiTool (touchscreen monitor), enabling maintenance technicians to conduct routine testing across multiple channels simultaneously – outside the machine footprint and away from the ‘line of fire’.
Our approach hinges on integrating advanced technologies and implementing best practices. We believe that by harnessing innovation, adopting a proactive stance, and leveraging our technical skills, we can aim towards a more effective, convenient, and safer future for maintenance technicians worldwide.
