Abstract
This presentation will exploit how the Sandwich Belt high angle conveyor is in harmony with the environment because of its many environmental advantages. Because the Sandwich Belt high angle conveyor can conform to irregular (steep) paths, it is able to blend in with the surrounding environment. This feature also precludes the need for many transfer points, a common source of spillage and fugitive dust. By virtue of its high capacity, high angle, adaptable profile features, the Sandwich Belt high angle conveyor facilitates the most compact arrangement of any materials handling system. This, of course, minimizes disturbances of the environment and results in a most economical system when all aspects are considered, including the value of real estate, cost of site preparation, excavation, etc. Elevating materials from underground by Sandwich Belt high angle conveyors along a vertical shaft offers the most direct path. Furthermore, the vertical shaft offers good structural stability against collapse. Alternately, a slope system will require a much longer path and correspondingly larger volumes of more expensive excavation and reinforcement for stability. In some cases Sandwich Belt high angle conveyors have facilitated material transfers in very tight spaces at existing facilities, while in others they have facilitated the most compact new materials handling systems. A vertical Sandwich Belt high angle conveyor at a Los Angeles construction site elevated material continuously from a subway station excavating at one of the city’s busiest intersections without disturbing vehicular or pedestrian traffic. Finally, the containment of material within the Sandwich Belt conveyor proved effective in containing odors, helping to solve permitting problems at an Eastern USA composting systems. This is advantageous in any case where noxious and odorous materials are handled.
