Abstract
MacLean has been providing Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) since 2016 to the industry. All of these machines come with our VMS solutions and gather a wealth of data. This BEV fleet is deployed accross Canada at multiple mine sites where our machines go to work every day, and as a result this data pool provides many insights as some of the first machines are now starting to mature. In this presentation the VMS technology is introduced, and is followed by an overview of some of the trends we are observing in the data in the deployed fleet. The presentation will conclude with a brief overview of future offerings in both our digital and BEV product lines.
Biography of the presenter
Maarten van Koppen joined MacLean in May 2020 as the Product Manager – Mine Operations. Maarten brings 12 years of experience as a mining engineer in Canada. Maarten graduated with a Masters of Science in Resource Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands in 2008 and completed his MBA at the Edinburgh Business School with Specialism in Strategic Planning in 2019. For the majority of Maarten’s career, he focussed on project development, with the most notable project being the all-electric Borden Mine Project in Northeastern Ontario. Maarten’s role was to oversee all engineering from scratch to prefeasibility study, and to compile the prefeasibility study and business case. After completion of that study Maarten continued to be involved in long term engineering challenges and in securing significant public funding for the project. Borden achieved commercial production on schedule and under budget in 2019. In Maarten’s new role he collaborates in MacLean’s product development pipeline, as well as working with key customers to see how MacLean’s technology solutions could provide better overall value for their projects and operations.
