Description
Occupational illnesses result in significant worker harm, financial costs, and regulatory pressure.
Ontario's Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Workplace Safety North have partnered on a research project aimed at establishing a competency framework to help workplaces address the gap in knowledge and skills to ultimately reduce exposure to harmful workplace health hazards and prevent occupational illnesses. We will share interim findings by the Institute for Work and Health (IWH) and desired outcomes of the research project.
The presentation will share how an established and repeatable competency framework has the potential to close foundational knowledge and skill gaps, improve worker safety, reduce compensation claims, and lead to sustainable occupational health hazard management.
